The History of Fragrance Creation:

Early perfume making can be traced back to the early civilizations of Mesopotamia and Egypt. It ultimately made its way to France, which remains the world’s center for perfume design and trade.

All fragrances fall into a fragrance family, and the characterization of fragrance families has changed over time. Inner Soul organizes fragrances into 14 different families:

Our Design process

The process we use to assist our customers in designing their own fragrance was developed more than 30 year ago. It comes directly from the heart of the perfume capital of the world in France. Some of the essences have changed over time, but this proven process has remained constant.

Did you know that there are traditionally three grades to fragrances?

• Eau de Toilette: The Eau de Toilette grade is typically between 8% and 10% essential oil and will last approximately between 2 to 4 hours.
• Eau de Perfume: The Eau de Parfum grade is typically between 10% and 15% essential oil and will last approximately between 6 to 8 hours.
• Perfume: True Perfume grade is typically above 15% essential oil and will last longer than 10 hours

Did you know that light and humidity can be damaging to fragrances? This may not be a problem depending on your use of the product. However, if you have it for long periods of time keeping it in a dark dry area will be help it retain its quality.

Did you know that each of our designs stations have over 125 essences? This identifies the vast number of combinations you have for your design.

Did you know that a fragrance scent will change while you wear it? This is due to the fragrance having multiple layers, and that each layer will last a different amount of time. In our Eau de Perfume’s the Top note will last approximately 15 to 30 minutes. The heart note will last approximately 3 to 4 hours and the Base note will last approximately 6 to 8 hours.

Did you know there is no single exact method for developing a fragrance? The composition of a fragrance is made up of several different essences all with their unique volume. Most well known fragrances are developed by an experienced perfumer that has years of experience blending essences. Our proven process eliminates many of these variables for consumers through decision trees and guidance from our experts.
